The Honey Dew Family Foundation (HDFF) was established in 2007 by Richard J. Bowen - founder and president of Honey Dew Donuts - who launched the Foundation with his six daughters. The Foundation is a continuation of Dick's dedication to the community and his desire to encourage and support his children's interests in aiding organizations that are important to them.

Dick’s commitment to community building began in 1973 when he opened the first Honey Dew Donuts shop in Mansfield, MA. Since 1999, Honey Dew Donuts shops have provided scholarships to more than 500 local high school graduating seniors.

In 2007, the company began its partnership with the National Breast Cancer Foundation to provide free mammograms to women in need, to promote early breast cancer detection and to provide educational programs to those whose lives have been touched by breast cancer.

Today, the board has expanded its support to include organizations that promote awareness about bullying and bullying prevention.

Applications for grants are by invitation only and grants are awarded annually in the fall.
